I would have booted the system with the debian kernel but it cannot
boot because of initramfs not working. I have an serial ata root and

Crashes everytime when I try to open my users firefox cache directory

I had the same issue during nightly update. Complaint about overlapping
directories with eclipse-source.
It could be worked around (at least for me) by removing eclipse-source
and then re-installing after the eclipse-platform update.
