For what it's worth, I have also been bitten by the missing support for
loop.ko in the netinst iso many times (since wheezy). Ultimately,
support for grub2 iso-boot in some form is exactly what I hope for.

Hi all,
I found another workaround in the x2go wiki:

I needed to manually install libzip-dev and libedit-dev for it to build.
Instead of exporting LD_LIBRARY_PATH, you can start evolution like this:
LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$HOME/mesa-1
Just wanted to confirm all of Alex' observations :)
