I can't resolve this bug, but I can finally use lenny 64 to full capacity in
xen, which doesn't help the bug.
I acquired xen-3.3.3 months ago, but couldn't manage to work my way through the
missing header files to install xen-tools.
After all this time, I revisited it and installed xen-3.3.3, qu

To correct some entries in the post, I got the kernels mixed up in making the

It may not matter, the end description is right, but to straighten it out,
The kernel first used to boot lenny is the squeeze xen kernel, 2.6.32-bpo.4-xen
The original ubuntu kernel is vmlinuz-2.6.31

For what it's worth, I provided the information for you to draw a conclusion.
I might be puzzled by it because;
three net installs all failed by the software using its standard backend config

Have installed a couple of samples of lenny as a guest using xen-tools. The
inital install is sensible a minimal system reaching level 3. Once installed,
I then installed gnome to have a graphical lenny. Once installed, it is
misconfigured.
The same also applies to fedora installs. I added a few symlinks to install a
fedora 10, which is one version newer than xen-tools actually cators to, but
the outcome I'm sure would still apply.

Hi Guido,
the bug has two separate parts now, the initial fault on leny (1), and a
recurrence of the supposedly resolved console issue we referred to, which
occured on other lenny.
re the first;
I've had to make severall attempts to re-invoke the bug. I did finally do so.
I did an install
Another attempt yielded a slightly better output. I invoked another install in
other lenny, amd_64, and this time got a log file.
This is a different fault. I hope you would persevere with it to straighten
lenny out comprehensively.

Guido,
I have a problem. I rebooted, repeated the install, and the thing completed!!
Yes, it completed.
lenny installed a xen vm, and not only that, it then booted up on
reboot, so my bug is not a package breaker. It's still a bug, though
intermittent, as gentoo would put it. It occurred t
