Dear Maintainer,
Simply removing updates on sunrise/sunset appears to have fixed the issue. I
have attached a patch to this email which is apply-able to both the 1.6 branch
and the master branch.

Just to clarify normal notifications get called from libglib -> libsoup ->
update_finish while the spammy ones get called from libglib ->
suncalc_timeout_cb -> update_finish.

Ok, as mate boots the mateweather-app gives the following messages(cat

These errors are probably not the cause but might be related. Google searching

Changing update time from 1m to 5m has made it happen roughly once per
10 minutes, more common than when it happens at a 1m refresh and an 10m
refresh.
I plan to look further into this issue on Sunday.

Dear Maintainer,
I have also recently noticed the Weather Report applet spams the screen with
notifications, from time to time.
This issue appears to be random. Lowing the update time from 30m to 1m
