Hello,
It appears that the default proxy settings between Thunderbird 2 and
Thunderbird 3 have changed. By resetting them (edit -> preferences ->
advanced -> network & disk space -> connection (settings ...) -> no
proxy), the problem is solved.
One strange thing though is that the "new mail

I've found one possible solution for this problem with Frederic Culot,
developer of calcurse.
Display correctly accents :
Start a terminal with the right encoding :
$> xterm -en iso-8859-1
Launch calcurse :
$> LC_ALL=xx_YY.ISO8859-1 calcurse
where xx_YY is your language code, like fr_FR.
