I'm having the same problem. It appears to be due to using Xinerama
(cause of no randr), which is still necessary to support a single
virtual display spanning multiple monitors each driven by a different
video device.

Upgrade to libsvncpp2 and rapidsvn (0.10) from the ubuntu karmic
repository. These packages do not have the problem and seem to work
fine on debian squeeze/sid.
Unfortunately these new packages are not even in debian experimental yet.

year. The timing of this problem seems to correlate to the release to
squeeze of libc 2.9-25.

This problem is not specific to msn. I have aim and yahoo accounts and
see the same behavior. Since upgrading my packages today (testing
preference with access to unstable) I must remove ~/.purple dir prior to
any start of pidgin or it just sits in Waiting for available network
connection.

I just hit this same problem using lenny to access may company's Windows
shares and agree the timing is horrible. Many us are are now stranded.
