Thanks for filing this bug. At DEBCONF17, we discussed this on debian
documentation BoF and Debian policy BoF. Almost every one agreed pushing
deprecation. Also, once converted to XML, pandoc can be used to convert the
source to RST which is more friendly to human typing and proof reading.

I second the request that this lintian check just be a warning, not an error.
Please also accept binary signature files--and I realize more than
just lintian will have to change to support that. The GNU Project's
files are signed with "gpg -b" to produce a binary ".sig" file for

Attached is a patch that makes kyotocabinet build (with warnings) with
GCC 7. I tried building it with CXX="g++ -std=c++03", but kyotocabinet
