I have encountered this same situation on my Jessie samba4 server.
The one additional bit of information I have to offer is that connects from
my Windows 8.1 client die immediately when they are attempted (as described
by Lorin), but connects from my Windows 7 client seem to be unaffected.

I understand this bug existed not much prior to the present kernel version
from what I read on the spea...@linux-speakup.org mailing list so this bug

Hi! This seems to be a bug in kde-runtime's knotify4, which I think has
already been reported (although I don't remember if correctly reassigned to
kde-runtime).
