It seems that the problem is just that of a new symbol. As such,
tightening the dh_shlibdeps invocation to use a (>= 7.6) dependency
should be enough, right?
I posted a patch to fix this in bug#476925.

that uses the "cciss" driver. Disks show up under /dev/cciss like:

IMHO, there is no any need to recommend kdiff3 or tkdiff with any of VCS
system. For example, it would be strange if subversion recommend me to
install an kdiff3 - i prefer using console diffs.
Again, IMHO, kdiff3 and tkdiff should go to suggests.
