mainly because the whole config file handling is a mess. This will be
rewritten during google's Summer of Code. I'll keep in cotact with
upstream to make sure we have an umit package at the end of the summer.

i haven't been able to reproduce this, but this could be my fault as the
only way i have to test this is by upgrading an etch chroot to sid in
cowbuilder. i'm doing the following:
# undo some of the "don't do stuff in the chroot" stuff
