constraint that I have is that I don't have a CPU with virtualization
helped by hardware (a Pentium D 805).

This one adds support for GNU/kFreeBSD (that is a GNU distribution
running with the FreeBSD kernel instead of Linux---Debian supports
this).
I'm CC'ing the kFreeBSD people so that they can throw in any extra
comments that they might consider necessary.

probably the best working solution right now.
The problem with iceweasel may be tied to the ssl libraries that it
uses. I will try to test it with the versions in experimental, like
