Hi all,
This is my first exposure to Debian, although I have used Red Hat for about a year.
I got Debian 2.2r3 "Espy" through CheapBytes.com and the install goes fine until I try
"Make Boot Floppy" screen. Then it formats the disk and gives the error message "Make
Boot Floppy Failed..."
Are there certain details I need to give to get a
reply? I looked for the dbootstrap package at debian.org, but I guess it isn't one,
even though the message on a virtual console is "dbootstrap: Make boot floppy
failed..."

I re-ran the install to get the messages in the v.console 2:
user.info dbootstrap[136]: write_boot_floppy: found floppy of size 1440
user.info dbootstrap[136]: formatting floppy with cmd 'export LD_LIBRARY_PATH =
"/target/lib: /target/usr/lib"; /target/usr/bin/superformat /dev/fd0/ hd'
use
I used the idepci version of the latest boot-floppy for potato. The install.bat
script under DOS is pretty easy--thank-you. However, it failed at the same spot I had
a problem before, (search for "Make boot floppy failed"). It gives the same error
messages and behavior. Is there another way
I tried your suggestion, David. I.e.,
rescue root=/dev/hda2
(hda2 is where my linux root partition lies). I get a screenful of:
"kmod: failed to exec /sbin/modprobe -s -k binfmt-, errno = 8"
without quotes of course.
