I don't think there are any woody backport of those, altough you could try
for them, or even try to install the unstable packages in your woody system,
but you would need initrd-tools and module-init-tools at least to make it work.

get rid of this libc6 dependency, no idea about initrd-tools and what
the state of those packages are in woody. Check them with apt-cache show

That said, you could as well upgrade to sarge by now if you have a fast
internet connection.

the powerpc flavour is probably only luck, so fixing
the kernel driver in the powerpc specific patch would be a better work
around, until the legacy driver problem is solved in the 2.7+ kernel
trees.
Those would be the serial driver, which is already fixed, the parallel
one, the floppy driver, the

e netboot ones, you get a choice of installing either the sarge or sid
.debs (or woody, but that is probably irremediably broken right now).
I never tested, but maybe the business card isos, since they hold all
the .udebs, allow also to chose between sid and sarge.

Also, i guess the kernel package contains actually two kernels, the

It is probable i will also add the compressed vmlinuz CHRP box uses, but
i think they need to have the initrd embedded or something such.

As such, i think the real code in parted should be moved either in

Then why is it not booting ?
The kernel boots, loads the cdrom.initrd image, mounts it as root
s, and will not start to hack libparted.
I am already working on this, and would like to continue doing this kind
of stuff during the oldenburg mini-debcamp.
I need to finish my amiga partitioning support stuff first, and get
debian-installer to boot on my pegasos first.

those missing modules.
I suppose that some people may want to build kernels later on which are
uniquely suited to their machine, and use it with the d-i initrd images,
because the standard kernels don't work. Would it be a good idea to have
d-i also work in these cases ? Or am i missing something ?

Would parted also work ? Not as per see, since parted is not really user
friendly, but when using a (graphical) libpa

I wonder if doing a woody boot-floppies install, and just changing the
apt sources.list to point to sarge/sid before following up with the
install process should be a possibility. I remember having done so some
month ago, without major problems, but time has passed sinc

BTW, did you check if the last libparted i gave to you also broke binary
compatibility, i don't think so, but i need to look at it if not.

As said, i uploaded on sunday morning, it is now only a matter of the
ftp-master aproving it.

Ah, and yes, Herbert has asked about that, and most probably, there will
be no 2.2.x kernels in sarge, so if you have problems with 2.4.x on your
subarch, please document it, try to provide fixes or anything, don't be
silent about it and then complain when it is too l

So you have managed to boot a system with yaboot2 ? I didn't think it
was all that advanced to do something usefull yet.

I guess the oldpmac powerpc subarch is also in this case.

have sub-sub arches (pmac is divided in oldpmac and
newpmac, chrp is chrp, chrp-rs6k, or chrp-pegasos).

Nothing is stopping you from creating a partition table of any strange
type you want on any architecture, as long as the kernel is able to read
them, it should be no problem. Sure, you may not be able to boot from
them, but this d
ded.
Please don't, asking an ftp-master to approve the 2.4.22 kernels sitting
in the NEW queue quickly would be a better solution.
