OH, I think that support for some features and/or drivers could be
turned off. Also, they could (with some limiations) be put into an
initrd (depending on how the new installation system works).

e Debian always supports a wide range of software (many
platforms etc), I guess that things will be worked out in the
meantime.
And I have already offered my help to the boot floppies team.

BTW, I tested with many keyboard layouts not with "non-standard" and I
never had any success.
Thus, I'm raising the severity of this bug. If more information is

Just for the record, I'm including here people from debian-boot, so that
this extra piece of information gets somehow included in future versions
of d-i (if it is not incorporated already).

P.S.: Ben, are there low-hanging fruits in the kernel for PowePC on
Macs?

Now, one thing to see is if all the people having this very serious

The "some additional bugs as well" is particularly important, at least

age, it seems that any presence of
xorg.conf creates a problem here.
The configure script of console-setup (in my case, console-setup-mini,
as I don't want to drag spurious dependencies) should be more resistant.
Thanks for testing my hypothesis, Rogério Brito.

Getting miboot and miboot-enabled kernels would be a good thing. And I
can try to see how things are going if the kernel doesn't work...

Hi, there.
Just a quick status update. I am including debian-boot here. If any mailing list
should be dropped, just say so.

Hi.
Just a quick status update on this (I'm catching up on e-mail).

with/taken from OpenFirmware (in case it would be the
hd alias that OpenFirmware uses for the disk), but flexibilizing this
for systems that may have more than one HD would be desireable (i.e.,
stay with the numbering with the HDs).
But that doesn't prevent one from using grub2 right
e newer upstream versions into the repository
that I listed above.
That's it for the moment.

Right. The way that things are currently is that snd-aoa is "force fed"
and causes some machines to not have any kind of sound.
Otavio, who should we talk to to get it working this way for the
upcoming release?
Thanks for your input,

reported earlier, but using mtools
(say, mcopy and friends) makes the drive become unusable (I don't
remember the messages literally here, because I'm not at the front of
the computer, but I can serve as a guinea pig if needed---despite my
lack of free time).
Thanks, Rogério Brito.
