It looks like Adaptec never bothered to send this patch to the mainstream
kernel maintainers so it'll just be another dodgy addon driver. I'm
certainly not interested in maintaining it.

are identical. It's not necessary to use it during the actual build.
This is no longer a problem for 2.4 kernels where the kernel-header
package contains all the info you need.
