I think, this problem can be called 'closed', problem was not in
package, but in documentation.

we are near the release of Debian 'Squeeze' and we are trying to identify/fix
bugs for this release.

i tried to reproduce it, i booted with DEBIAN_FRONTEND=text but everytime i
get:
Prompt '?' for help, default=1 10>
tasks 1 and 10 selected by default.
After entering 8 9 10 at the prompt d-i installed the 3 tasks.
As the default suggests tasks are entered separated by spaces.

as some of you might know, the debian installer allows to install a system with
a disabled root account, i.e. there is no root password set for root.
In lenny, iirc, this was done via d-i pre-seeding, in squeeze it is as simple as
leaving the root password prompt empty.
