I just tried the etch Beta3 kernel on my Beige G3 OldWorld PowerPC
Macintosh.
Same results as noted in the original bugreport by this number. It
hangs almost immediately. The picture of Tux never appears at the
top of the screen. See the original bug report for details.

Just took the release of beta3 as an opportunity to look at the graphical
installer.
First impression: good graphics. Doesn't really use the possibilities of a
GUI, though -- the available screen space would allow to do nice things
like an overall progress indicator, or inline help tex

I cannot reproduce this bug either with beta3. But it *was* there,
I swear -- when I was using the 20060806 image.
