I have been trying to load a preseed file as is documented in the Sarge
install manual. It's not working for me.
I first tried the debian-installer RC1 and it seemed to completely ignore the
option, I then upgraded to daily builds and was able to at least see it
complain that it could not load

I take it that the reasoning behind adding pegasus to devnames is that
the user then at least can pick their usb ethernet adaptor off the list?
I checked, and the current version of ethdetect has an entry for
pegasus, though using a different text than you gave. Can you give it a

Until recently, I assume that Knoppix is the "Debian Installer
for Dummies [TM]". Unfortunately, Knoppix 3.6 (Aug 2004) does not
work well on Acer TM290 (ATI chips): somehow the touch pad often
make the system hang.
