Debian Installer does not detect my CD-drive

Hi, I downloaded the Net-inst 100MB image CD from the official debian images. I booted the CD (no problem), but when the installer starts detecting the hardware on my laptop (Compaq Presario, Toshiba combo drive), it stops and says that it cannot mount the cdrom drive. Any idea? workaround?
