I just noted that the configuration file for X is called XF86Config or XF86Config at some places in the sources for the installation guide to etch. For instance the english version (and others in xml-format) has this wording in trunk/manual/en/appendix/files.xml, and the languages with po-files

Bug#283259: installation-reports: [install report] wrong mouse driver in /etc/XF86Config-4

2004-11-27 Thread Lionel Vaux
xserver-xfree86 configuration selected 'IntelliMouse' protocol for my mouse (whithout asking me) whereas the only working protocol for it is 'ImPS/2': I had to modify /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 by hand, so that we can't say that everything worked "out of the box"

Firstly, you need to be root to be able to run xf86config and write the XF86Config-4 file. Secondly, you might want to run dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 as debconf can take care of some X configuration options. Debian 3.0 can use either XFree86 version 4 or version 3 which makes it a bit

Hi, I am newly getting to know Debian and try to make Debian working on my PC.   When I finished installation from the CD set (7 of them) of Debian 3.0 Woody. I found the monitor display quite blur, not clear. So I did xf86config as some people told me.   But when I finished all the process
