I think xdebconfigurator should be run *after* pkgsel. This way
xdebconfigurator triggers itself if the xserver-common package (which
contains dexconf) was installed, and does nothing otherwise.

Nope. The number was selected for woody, and just copied to sarge.

Running it running it *after* would make it trigger itself basing on
the user choice (with or without X).
