scp/ssh not working in d-i

I installed the openssh-clinet udeb but scp/ssh don't work. Is there anything I have to configure to make this work? ~ # scp /target/boot/initrd.img-2.6.26-1-versatile [EMAIL PROTECTED]: unknown user 0 ~ # ssh -v [EMAIL PROTECTED] You don't exist, go away! ~ # more /etc/passwd root:*:0:0:root:/:/
