install hangs during pcmcia setup

To whom it may concern, During installation with the 2.2r2 boot floppies if I try "configure pcmcia support" and provid no additional parameters the install program hangs with a blinking cursor in the lower left corner. The card is supported and has been used on another laptop using debian boot
