Which cases? lack of ide-generic hurts a lot when it is the only driver
for your controller too.

And what solution is there for the 0.01% that would like to continue
using their systems? Do you
this thread goes no where.
loading a module on *all* boxes for 0.01% percent of the population
is not the right thing to do.
if you want some more informed statement read what fjp wrote down
or come up with a fine patch.

Did you do a test build for all arches with these? There will be failures
if not all of them support this.

Hello,
I've prepared a set of patches against current kernel-wedge to update
it. Comments bellow:
- ide-generic-pci
I haven't add it since I found no reference about it being used by
other distros and then I prefer to still use ide-generic for now,

I'm extremely disappointed that we've not yet been able to switch D-I over
to 2.6.25, but the plain fact is that the needed work is just not being
done.
The basic problem seems to be that we don't have a maintainer for
kernel-wedge. Joey has done that job up to 2.6.22 with occasional
contribut

After acks from Otavio, Joey and Max I have committed my changes.
This means that now porters can start checking for changes in modules. As I
said in the last mail, I'm going to leave that to other

Now seems like a good time to remind you that I would like to add
-686-bigmem kernel udebs to the mix to support running D-I under PAE
Xen.

Today I have done the initial work to prepare the switch to 2.6.25 for D-I.
Note that I have done no checks at all for new/removed/changed modules, not
even for i386/amd64! I'll leave that to others.
What I have done is only the structural changes required to build using
basically the cu
