Sony PCG-Z505FA troubles

I'm an idiot. it was asking for a _device_ not a drive. I was thinking it knows where the cd is now; what is the problem? I am not the only one who got confused however... Tools I'd like: - to confidently use someone elses config file and know how that affects the install process and visa
