The features you speak of are already part of the debian-installer project. Due
to limited resources, however, that project has been delayed. boot-floppies
will be used again for woody. Expect debian-installer to be the standard
installer in a year and a half or so.

It is my sincerest hope that the Debian developers concerned with
building the new Debian installation disks will consider the concept
of building a easy to use - one network install disk system.
