Thank you for replying Rick, in fact, install works fine directly to compact flash with installer (it is installed as an IDE disk). My need was simply to tell installer to prepare also a second disk. This could also happen to get better performances and use a separate disk for swap or /home.

How about this: Install to the hard disk, then after the first reboot, run a script that copies the root partition to the compact flash and does the necessary magic to make it boot from the flash. You can either leave the root partition on the hard disk as an emergency backup, or reformat i
