Peter Palfrader's workaround is hardly user friendly. If I understand correctly, package apt-transport-https no longer exists, yet the gutsy script called by debootstrap in Ubuntu 18.04 tries to install it. We are trying to automate the installation of Ubuntu18.04 using a private HTTPS repo and
