Hi Holger - Good idea; seemed hopeful. But I cannot get to the command line to add /etc/modprobe.d/disable-nouveau.conf with the recommended option for nouveau modeset. I appreciate your help, but will return to Ubuntu 14.04. It gives me an acceptable user interface that I can use to move ahea
