Actually when I took steps a little further it looks like I have a buggy version of potato-pre which is causeing the mount of the ramdisk to be read only from the rescue disks. I tried just a normal install and it did the same thing. I downloaded new disks and the problem is fixed. Sorry about

Okay, it is official, the problem lies within the new gcc 2.95.2. I compiled a new kernel with gcc 2.7.2.3 and now it's working like a charm. Although this may still be a small bug, when I boot the ramdisk is still mounted ro and I still get the open errors on /dev/tty3. I assume the open error
