Base System Installation Checklist:
[O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it
Initial boot worked: [O]
Configure network HW: [O]
Config network: [O]
Detect CD: [O]
Load installer modules: [O]
Detect hard drives: [E]
Partition hard drives: [O]
Create file systems: [O]
Mount partitions: [O]
Install base system: [O]
Install boot loader: [O]
Reboot: [O/E]
Comments/Problems:
Trying to detect hard drives failed because the stock kernel on the
installer does not contain megaraid_mm.ko or megaraid_mbox.ko. Not
knowing exactly what to do I unpacked a linux-image-2.6.12-1-386 on
another box, grabbed the two modules, put 'em on a floppy, insmod'd 'em
and copied to the correct place in the /lib of the installer. I then
continued on and checked the installed initrd to make sure they were there.
On reboot, although we managed to get the megaraid working, free reports
only 885Mb of RAM (We have 4Gb.) I'm not sure whether a
compiling/installing a new kernel will fix this, any ideas?
Thanks,
andy
