splashy can be used in g-i boot (not in console).
also in the desktop task ... with gnome and kde. (splashy is not that
big weight).

on your great instalation review,
java 5 is available in etch ... sun-java5-bin in non-free. if you want
to use java 6, i recommend you to use backports.org's sources and add
them to sources.list.

I am only going to make this question as interested user.
Since live-cd is happening, they are doing a great job, i think it would
be interesting to have d-i used to install the system from the live-cd.
I know it is possible, but how it is possible, i don't relly know.

hello there
evolution uses gnome-spell, so for a good usage and capabilities it
should be included in the gnome-task, where evolution is called.

Just a comment on this.
Why the installer does not has only the version-codename in the
sources.list?
or both (stable and etch).
there are 2 issues here:
1 . the users want to have a controled upgrade to a new release. So
having etch as release-name in sources.list makes it to switch to
oldstab
please keep debian-desktop in CC, because i think the author of those
icons is subscribed to desktop and not boot.

i agree on wine to stand in the desktop task.
Desktop task should cover user's possible activities and it's normal
that any user (mostly new users) to try to run a certain windows
application.
The question is ... Why not?

Well ... in one word: epiphany.
Why?
- integrated with gnome.
- faster
- simple
- People will use it like they use firefox, because it's behavior is
the same.
- users who wish firefox/iceweasel can install it also.
- the patch available (from the BR) seems to make sense.
firefox/iceweasel
