l. Maybe the signing thing is more complicated. I'm not really
going to spend more time on this issue but I wanted to pass it along
so that someone else who is interested could try to fix it.

late for doing much changes in gnome anyway.
I said only "a bit late", but there is still time to make this change
if necessary. If there are significant problems with GNOME on Wayland
that the Debian GNOME team may have been unaware of, please let them
know promptly.

It's a bit late to be talking about reverting Wayland by default for
everyone since this has been enabled for Testing since soon after the
Stretch release.

nd?
You can force disable GNOME on Wayland completely by setting
WaylandEnable=false in /etc/gdm3/daemon.conf
I assume MATE isn't defaulting to using Compiz now? If so, it seems
simpler to just disable Wayland for accessible users than installing
MATE and switching to Compiz?

t has been quite a bit harder. As Simon
pointed out, 90% of this work was done 3 months ago; it's the final
hard bits that we need done now.
This bug's history gives you the list of packages to check when
gjs/s390x becomes usable.

believe I was the one that requested that Paul van Tillburg file
this bug. I intend to make the requested change (have gnome-software
recommend fwupd) soon and I wanted there to be a bug for tracking.
I would have made the change by now except that I forgot to do it sooner.

New version of the patch. This also drops libreoffice-evolution which
we recently dropped from the 'gnome' metapackage.

gnome-orca is now a transitional package depending on orca.
I'll attach a patch in my follow-up email.

I redid my patch to not try to change too much. I left
network-manager-gnome alone and kept LibreOffice – at least the part
of LibreOffice that the 'gnome' metapackage depends on.

Except as Paul said, the decision to make XFCE default for Wheezy has
not been made so it can't be reversed.

How do you figure that?

Just looking at popcon, GNOME is installed several more
