It does not seem possible to install a desktop system with a totally gui
interface using the beta-3 debian-installer. expertgui looks really
good, but tasksel 2.53 only has an option for 'Desktop environment'.

I am happy to reinstall the distro from scratch if necessary, but when
it hangs I have no access to a shell. Is there something that I should

Re-running the install worked fine with manual network configuration ie
supplying an IP for the box
(it suggested mask and gateway addresses correctly) and nameserver IPs.
