That's not a valid assumption necessarily - what about on machines
where a serial console is the default

Probably. The details are probably to be seen with them
Apple solved this problem back in 2006. That was when Mac OS Tiger 10.4
became available. What Apple did was to put a message asking for
language to be used on the screen for about 10 seconds I think. If that
message didn't get a keyboard response then VoiceOver got turned on
since Apple figured

regarding System installation hangs on decompressi
I tried do reproduce the bug on another system and it seems it was some sort of
problem with VirtualBox and FreeBSD.
Any other machine I installed Debian it is ok.
Since I won’t be playing with that machine anymore, I guess you can close this
issue.
