You should probably look at setting the new 'relatime' mount option by
default for new installations. It's supported in current kernels and mount.
It should st least be supported in partman.

I have tried several times to do a netinstall of Lenny on a Dell
Inspiron 1501 with AMD Turion64X2 processor (Debian Etch runs well).
