Hello,
today I took some time to try the same hardware with a Sarge netinstall
CD and then upgraded to Etch using online resources. It worked like a
charm.

In order to remove usage of devfs style device names in the
debian-installer [1], busybox udebs need to be built without the
CONFIG_FEATURE_DEVFS option.
Applying the attached patch should be fine. :)

Hi!
The debian-installer is currently getting rid of its dependency on
devfs-style device names [1].
udev does not need to export devfs compatibility rules in its udeb
anymore. It still needs to create the necessary /dev/input/* files,
though.
