I do a lot of test installations on my desktop and this error occurs every
time.
I noticed that in the same situation on my (new) laptop I don't get the error.
The logs for installations on both systems are attached.
For the desktop the ext3 check is at iteration 255.

- booting with just 'linux' from the silo prompt does still fail with
the "unable to mount root fs" error

If isn't not added yet, the LVM 2.0 installer need to check if the system has a OLD
lvm system installed
on it. Because the old snapshots don't work with new LVM structure (all other things

During the "install base system" process, the installation was stopped
claiming : "The debootstrap program exited with an error (return value 1)"
