Hi,
When running in a bterm on boot-floppies (i18n disks) modconf doesn't
clear the screen. This leaves characters randomly on the screen. At
times it makes it difficult to see what is going on.
Thanks to Thomas Poindessous we k

No idea. Someone told me locales depended on debconf, and that it had
to be listed in the --includes list, and I believed it.

Why do people keep mumbling about reconfiguring debconf as part of the
install process? That is utterly not needed.

YAY!
I just tried this out, looks great. The busybox one we'll
probably have to omit, I don't think it is worth having utf and
non-utf8 versions of busybox just for this.
I'll soon check this in conditional on -DUTF8.
Thanks!

General problem with loadlin and some systems. Works with small kernel
images, breaks with bigger files.

testing i386 I noticed we need this, otherwise when I hit return at

The following patch should do the job, assuming the debconf and
locales package is available.

Well, I thing the second is outside the scope of the install system.
I have a new patch which should take care of both.

Should base-config use the same language as it used during install if
the default language is different then the installation locale?

It's worth a try. We might at least learn something.

I noted that recent builds have broken DNS resolving functionality.
Nothing works, no ping, no wget. A run in the strace showed that it

It is a step in the right direction, but it is not sufficient. In
addition to setting the LANG and LANGUAGE environment, one need to
check if the locales package is installed, and generate
