I just built and ran the i18n b-f on PowerPC.
I didn't do a full install, maybe tomorrow night. But I went through a
few steps, everything seemed to be functional.
The only cosmetic thing I noticed was on the splash screen, there was

check_newt_so needs to make sure we have libnewt.so so we can
dynamically link with it; add a new check, check_non_i18n to ensure
that for non-LANG_CHOOSER builds we don't have the i18n libs
in trying to get rid of the /instmnt from the mounting of a harddrive
partition for installing of the base system, i was able to get rid of it
from one dialog box, but not all.
the problem is more subtle than i initially suspected.

I checked in some code to give a primitive register dump if a segmentation
fault happens in debugging mode. Maybe that will help find out where the
crash is happening. Anybody want to try it out?
