I tried to install debian woody on a quite standard i386 machine (AMD
K6-2 500MHz, 128 MB RAM, 30 GB Maxtor IDE hard drive, Realtek RTL 8029
NIC).
I made 6 floppies, rescue.bin, root.bin, driver-{1,2,3,4}.bin from the
images in debian/dists/woody/main/disks-i386/3.0.17-2001-11-18/images-1.44

I just tried to install ppc debian on my powermac last night. The install
cannot proceed since the drive in question was installed on
an Advansys 3940UW SCSI card. The driver doesn't seem to be available in
the installer kern
i am doing this mostly for documentation. i should probably file

all issues listed affect the reiserfs flavour:
1) no mkfs.reiserfs in the root.bin
unable to create a reiserfs partition (this is very defeatest of the

Try a different flavour... The vanilla kernel is probably hanging while
probing for some hardware you don't have... SCSI drivers seem to be
particularly bad for this... I find that the "-idepci" flavour of boot
floppies tends to work best for your kind of setup (new hardware, no
SCSI, etc)..

I committed the newt hack, and filed a number of other bugs, the only
complete show-stopper however is this one:
