Ah, ok. Good. But if it was not, you'd want to know about that.

The failure is reproducible for both dhcp-client and also the version of
pump from 'sid' that I manually copied to the installation system's hard
drive.
My normal Debian 'sid' system works fine on the same connection (cable,
NIC, etc.) using pump.

I tested the 3.0.12 boot floppies on my Dell laptop last night. The install
gets farther now, however, it still fails due to not being able to find
/sbin/cardmgr. There is a link to /target/sbin/cardmgr but the file doesn't
exist anywhere.

Yes, this is a connection through Roadrunner on TimeWarner cable. I have
twice verified with RR that we have 3 useable addresses. In fact, I've
used all three at once in the past and nothing since then has changed.
Something about the kernel, AFAICT, doesn't like Roadrunner's DHCP. I
keep wonderin

Hi,
I have created two new directories in the boot-floppies CVS s390-specials and
scripts/rootdisk/prototype/root , but they are missing for some reason in the
3.0.12 tarball. Any ideas?
Regards,
