I can confirm that the failure of the Debian 12 Kirkwood ARMEL installer to
enumerate USB drives on my Ionics-EMS Nimbus 100 is a Linux kernel bug. I
found another, more recent, Linux kernel at
https://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,12096 and booted it. Though it also does
not have UBIFS
I have an Ionics-EMS Nimbus 100, which is a repackaged version of the Marvell
Kirkwood ARMEL SheevaPlug. It has been running fine for years. I have to
update Linux to support TLS 1.2.
The current Kirkwood ARMEL installer for Debian 12 "bookworm" does not work: it

The ffmpeg people were asking me in pre-EABI days if they could
benchmark fftw3 on ARM Debian, but ran away in horror at the slowness.
If people have public-access ARM EABI's (with FPU's?) please contact

It has compatability support.
Some benchmarks would be a nice project. It seems faster to me, doing
things like sshing in.

Retrying steps can get past such failures.
I can provide a mirror if needed.

A build of d-i for the armel architecture is now ready for your
installing pleasure. There are two download locations:
http://people.debian.org/~joeyh/d-i/armel/images/daily/
http://www.slug-firmware.net/a-dls.php
Use the latter to install to a slug using the onboard ethernet.
