This problem has been fixed in the version of the kernel in unstable.
The workaround is, as suggested, to remove /var/cache/apt/*.bin and
run apt-get again
I had my NSLU2 doing that
Have you tried apt-get -f install
Also, i found using
rm -rf /var/cache/apt/*.bin
