Following the directions on
http://stp.ling.uu.se/~perweij/debian_slip.html , I set up a Netwinder
as one SLIP host and a powermac as the other. The link didn't work.
The funny thing is, on the netwinder, ping gave:
# ping powermac
PING powermac.homeser.net (192.168.0.130): 56 data b
