thought this problem might be caused by a too weak PSU as well and
tested with a 12V/1A instead of 12V/0.5A - but that doesn't help.

just saw there is already a newer version in testing and built a
slightly modified lcd+simplefb supporting version based on that one:

my display is sometimes distorted after a soft reset.
(color components somehow shifted/mixed up?)
tested with kernel up to
