Thanks. I think that might be the answer. I also found that there is a fuse
module and did a "modprobe fuse" successfully. I believe that and the two
packages you mentioned are all that I need. Now I have to find OWFS for the
NSLU2 Debian Lenny.

There is libfuse2 and fuse-utils, but I personally have no experience
with them. Maybe someone else can comment?

To clarify: by "halts" I mean that nothing more happens, nothing more
is printed, I don't mean that the kernel prints "system halted".
