Ok, that's cautiously promising. The next suggestion is maybe a bit annoying: try undoing or commenting-out the language selection and checking whether the previous error-prone behaviour returns. I haven't been able to figure out why choosing a language in the config file would make a difference

Well it's hardly a netbook. It has 4 USB ports, an HDMI port, two audio jacks, an Ethernet port, an SD slot, and an IR port. I've changed a couple HDs on it already. It's a 64 bit desktop, they are designed to be mounted to the back of a monitor, if one wishes to do that. It will be a nice addition

Yeah, I don't know how easy it would be to change the motherboard, the computer is small, about the size of a double sandwich. I put in my own RAM and HD, that part is easy, but I don't know if it is a simple process on one of these to disconnect the peripheral plugs from the motherboard. Glenn
