I think perhaps it might have been better to assume we didn't realise we were
doing this or that it was a problem until you pointed it out. Discourtesy was
certainly not intended.

Ok, I finally got it. One should hold Ctrl, select the tool, _release_ Ctrl and
start adding shapes. Here is a video what happens it Ctrl is not released
before a shape is being added.
