I give you an example to understand this request better.
I shoot (tango) dancers in low light. A lot of shots are shoulders and
heads only. Because I shoot in low light I use a very fast, manual lens at
full aperture (f/0.95).
In a burst sequence of seven shots that
I couldn't have said it better than Aurélien. I have a default setting for
basecurve that matches any input and is always linear. This essentially
makes the the module do nothing. And I have this since I started using DT.
Caveat: I'm a VFX professional. I know a bit about this topic. ;)

I always assumed that basecurve fucks up the whole linear workflow. So I
always have it off.
But still, what then? I mean each module that relies on a certain color
space must take into consideration everything in the pipe before (and
possible undo it, which is not always really possible) to p
ty intuitive. Trying to do
the same in Lightroom was confusing after that.
